Well the technology of retail has made us more reliant and more productive. With the modern advancements of our time we have become computers and can no longer function without one. In olden days technology was little but retail was good because it was family owned business that was in the town that all citizens went there. The role of technology in society, retail gives the look of evolution. Retailing reveals that technology gets more sophisticated and the consumer's expectations will go up exponentially. It change faster, retail can keep up the convergence of a few key technologies is enabling that change gives us the best preview of what can happen in the next five to eight years.
The Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) is an internationally reaching standards organization dedicated to reducing the costs of technology through standards. Since 1993, ARTS has been delivering application standards exclusively to the retail industry. An ART has four standards: The Standard Relational Data Model, UnifiedPOS, ARTS XML and the Standard RFPs. It is a division of the National Retail Federation. Membership is open to all members of the international technology community, retailers from all industry segments, application developers and hardware companies.
